About the ExhibitionsEugène Atget: The Making of a Reputation While Atget's work has been celebrated worldwide for documenting the lost Paris, this exhibition marks the first deep dive into how his reputation was built, and the pivotal role of Berenice Abbott, the photographer who championed his legacy.HARD COPY NEW YORK Exploring the contemporary use of photocopied images through works by industry-leading photographers including Stephen Shore, Daniel Arnold, Collier Schorr, Jerry Hsu, and others.Latitudes: Nuits Balnéaires and François-Xavier Gbré How does landscape photography reveal more than geographic facts? Latitudes brings together work by Nuits Balnéaires and François-Xavier Gbré that pushes beyond lanscape photography's traditional boundaries into evoking euphoric sensations, challenging colonial historical narratives, and expanding the scope of immersion. Cameras and Coffee: Photobook Swap—Community Meet-Up (May 2026)
Cameras and Coffee is held at ICP the second Saturday of each month. The event is free to attend with RSVP.Connect with ICP's community during our monthly Cameras and Coffee social meet-up for photographers, collectors, and camera enthusiasts! During this special Photobook Fest edition, bring a gently loved photobook to trade within the community and come home with a new favorite photobook to give a second life and to diversify your collection.Bring your own photobook to swap and browse the selection from 11 AM- 12 PM.Photobook Swap begins at 12 PM in the ICP cafe. Publishing Your Photobook with Harvey Stein
This event is exclusive for ICP Members. Not a member yet? Join us! This dynamic 90‑minute introduction is for photographers at any stage—from those just dreaming up ideas to those with projects nearly complete and wondering what comes next. Harvey will guide you through the creative and practical possibilities of making a photo book, from self‑publishing to approaching publishers. You’ll explore how to shape ideas, edit and sequence images for maximum impact, and navigate the key steps of production. This session celebrates the love of books, the thrill of making something tangible, and the joy of photography. Join us and start bringing your book to lifePlease register for one session only, choosing from either the 11am session or the 3pm session. Limited capacity, first come first served. About Harvey Stein Harvey Stein is a professional photographer, teacher, lecturer, author and curator based in New York City; he is a long-time faculty member at ICP and has taught at several other schools and universities. He has had ten photo books published, including Coney Island People 50 Years (Schiffer, 2022). He has conducted travel photography workshops to Europe including Greece and Italy, Mexico, South America, Vietnam, India, Japan and China for more than two decades. He has had 92 solo exhibitions, has participated in over 170 group shows and has worked in 60 permanent collections. He has reviewed portfolios for dozens of photo festivals including FotoFest, Social Documentary Network, Critical Mass and All About Photography. He was the Director of Photography at Umbrella Arts, a gallery in the East Village of New York City (2009-2019) and has curated 75 exhibits since 2007. Stein’s photography is represented by Sous Les Etoiles Gallery in New York City. Explore photobooks from the ICP Library while connecting with fellow photobook enthusiasts at ICP's Photobook Club. This session is designed exclusively for teens. Browse a curated selection of photobooks recommended by alumni of ICP Youth Programs featuring titles they wish they had discovered during their own teenage years. Then, drop in for a hands-on zine-making activity inspired by ICP's Photobook collection and HARD COPY NEW YORK exhibition.The Photobook Club takes place in the ICP library on the last Saturday of each month. This event is free to attend with RSVP.About ICP Library ICP’s reading library contains over 20,000 books and periodicals.
