The Director's Circle is a community of ICP supporters who are passionate about photography. Members make significant investments in ICP's mission to educate the next generation of imagemakers, present groundbreaking exhibitions and programs to the public, and develop ICP’s permanent collection. The Director’s Circle receives special invitations to exclusive events with artists, curators, and leaders in the photography field, as well as unparalleled behind-the-scenes access to ICP’s museum and programming.
Membership begins with a gift of $5,000 to ICP’s general operating fund.
Director’s Circle members have the opportunity to join a Leadership Committee of their choosing. Participation allows patrons to share their expertise, vote on the allocation of Committee contributions, convene with fellow supporters, and learn more about ICP’s collections and curatorial program directly from ICP staff.
The Exhibitions Committee plays a role in the development and funding of ICP exhibitions. At each meeting, members receive an overview of upcoming exhibitions and vote on allocating Committee contributions. Presentations by curators introduce new and interesting photography from around the world, and discussions led by guest artists and photography specialists expand our understanding of the field. The Committee is chaired by ICP Trustee Almudena Legorreta.
The Acquisitions Committee supports the development of ICP’s permanent collection. At each meeting, ICP curators propose work for acquisition and members vote on directing Committee contributions. Debates inspired by their choices provide insights into the medium of photography, from its earliest days to contemporary forms. The Committee is chaired by Alice Zimet.
Candidacy to join a Committee is a benefit of the Director’s Circle, starting at the $7,500 level.
Friends of the Library ensure that ICP is able to sustain and develop our Library’s role as the only library in New York City dedicated exclusively to photography, providing free access to exhibition catalogs, artist files, and books on photography from throughout the world.
Friends of Education Programs play a key role in supporting education at ICP by spearheading audience development initiatives, community and youth programs, and scholarships, which enable students from around the world to attend ICP classes.
All contributions to ICP programs are fully tax-deductible.
