Jayne Wexler

"Jayne Wexler befriends strangers everywhere. As friends tell it, she schmoozes with old folks in the park and regularly tells total strangers all about her life," according to a New York Times article. She encounters many of her future subjects by chance--on crowded city streets or backcountry roads, in places as far-flung as Dubrovnik, Kyoto and the Bronx.
Jayne’s curiosity, discerning eye and exceptional attention to detail translate into images which reveal a layered vision of human emotion. Her talent for establishing immediate connections has proven to be quite useful on set. A natural at helping her subjects feel at ease, Jayne nurtures a relationship with the sitter, drawing out a story, a passion, a dream. She leaves each shoot with a personal connection to every member of the cast and crew.
While primarily focusing on portraits for editorial, advertising and pharmaceutical clients, Jayne also devotes a portion of her time to pro bono work for charitable organizations and public education. Jayne has published three acclaimed books of portraiture, Daughters & Mothers (a New York Times bestseller), Girlfriends, and Grandmothers…
Born in Brooklyn, raised in New Jersey and trained at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts, she splits her time between New York City and upstate New York with her husband, Hunter and son, Justice.
