Andrés Foglia Ortegate is a visual and fine artist with a Master’s degree in Research in Artistic and Visual Practices. His work is grounded in research-creation methodologies, focusing on photography, cataloguing and preventive conservation of photographic archives, as well as curatorial practice and specialized teaching in the fields of arts, image studies, and cultural studies. 

He is the founder and director of MATERIAL - Espacio de Pensamiento, Investigación y Prácticas en Fotografía y Cultura Visual, a research center specialized in image studies and based in Bogotá, Colombia. He is also a faculty member at the School of Arts and Design at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and the Department of Art at the Universidad de los Andes.
