1995 Infinity Award: Art — Clarissa T. Sligh

Clarissa T. Sligh is our 1995 honoree for Art

Clarissa T. Sligh is an American photographer, book artist, essayist, and educator whose work explores memory, race, identity, gender, and social justice through the integration of photography, text, archival materials, and artists' books. By 1995, Sligh had established herself as an important voice in contemporary American art, developing an interdisciplinary practice that challenged conventional documentary photography while foregrounding the lived experiences of African Americans and other historically marginalized communities.
