James Nachtwey is an American photojournalist and documentary photographer widely regarded as one of the greatest war photographers in modern history. For more than four decades, he has documented armed conflicts, humanitarian crises, natural disasters, famine, disease, and political violence across the world. Renowned for his courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to bearing witness, Nachtwey has used photography to draw international attention to the suffering caused by war and injustice. His powerful black-and-white images have become defining visual records of many of the most significant global events of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
