Sara Konradi (Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism '23) photographed Katie, a 12 and a half pounds, four-years-old dog, for “New York City’s Secret Weapon in the War on Rats: Katie the Dog” in The New York Times, a feature exploring Katie’s role in the city’s efforts to control the rat population.
The article documents Katie's nightly work hunting rats in parks and alongside sidewalks, a role that emerged after he owner, Sarah Darby, noticed Katie's instincts for tracking rodents during late-night walks. According to the feature, Katie may catch hundreds of rats each year.
