Join ICP on June 4th for Community Day at Photoville! Photoville is a free, open-air photo festival that runs from June 4–26 and is focused amplifying the voices of visual storytellers and connecting them to a worldwide diverse audience. It increases access to photography through a wide range of educational community initiatives and exhibitions throughout the city.
Photoville 2022 will kick off at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday, June 4th with an Opening Day Community Celebration, a jam-packed day of workshops, artist-led walking tours, and other activities for the whole family. Join ICP for workshops that engage the whole family in learning the fundamentals of photography while exploring the DUMBO neighborhood!
Drop-In Zine-Making Family Activity
Come join us at the ICP tent for some zine-making! Learn how to make your own zines (mini-magazine) using recycled and repurposed images through collage and collaboration with ICP faculty and alum, Roy Baizan. No prior registration necessary.
Envisioning DUMBO Photography Workshop
Join ICP faculty and alum Abigail Montes and Tiffany Williams from 2:30–4:30 PM for a hands-on imagemaking activity exploring the neighborhood! As we celebrate DUMBO, what are the people, places, and things that make this neighborhood come to life? While learning basic photographic techniques, participants will use whatever imagemaking device they have (smartphone, iPad, camera, etc.) to document what stands out most to them while walking around neighborhoods in DUMBO. The group will meet at the ICP Photoville tent at Pier 1 - Harborview Lawn before beginning their journey. You can register for the workshop here.
Along the DUMBO Waterfront Workshop
Taught by award-winning and internationally exhibited photographer Lynn Saville and running from 3–5 PM, this workshop introduces students to the magic of taking photographs along New York's waterways, with a focus on the DUMBO waterfront. The group will meet at the ICP Photoville tent at Pier 1 - Harborview Lawn before beginning their journey. You can register for the workshop here.

ICP at THE POINT: Ready to Rise at Barretto Point Park
While Community Day kicks off at Brooklyn Bridge Park, ICP at THE POINT: Ready to Rise will be opening at Barretto Point Park in the Bronx! ICP at THE POINT: Ready to Rise is an exhibition of photographs by students and alumni from the International Center of Photography's partnership with THE POINT CDC.
Based in the South Bronx and launched in 1997, ICP at THE POINT is a year-round collaboration that teaches analog and digital photography, critical thinking, writing, and public speaking with the goal of fostering self-esteem, community development, and social change. The program includes weekly after-school classes for preteens, teens, and young adults, which take place in both a physical and virtual classroom/studio/darkroom as well as a gallery space. This exhibition celebrates local voices picturing and honoring the people, places, and things that keep us uplifted in our everyday lives.
