Marina Berio and Maggie Steber receive grants for their work in the visual arts

On April 6, 2017, the Board of Trustees of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation approved the awarding of 173 Guggenheim Fellowships to a diverse group of scholars, artists, and scientists. Appointed on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise, the successful candidates were chosen from a group of almost 3,000 applicants in the Foundation’s ninety-third competition.

Two of those winners are part of the ICP family—Marina Berio, chair of ICP’s General Studies in Photography program and Maggie Steber, an ICP faculty member since 2002. A grant was awarded to Berio for her project, The space in the mind in the body in the space. Steber's grant was awarded for her project, The Secret Garden of Lily LaPalma.
