Sheida Soleimani: Panjereh Closing Day

September 28, 2025 (10:30AM – 6:30PM EDT)

Sheida Soleimani’s Panjereh explores the intersections of migration, memory, and political resistance through richly layered and visually striking photographic work. Centered on her family’s flight from Iran following the 1979 revolution, Soleimani’s poignant visual storytelling draws from her acclaimed Ghostwriter series to reflect on the complex narratives of displacement and survival.

The exhibition features a blend of intricate, studio-based photographic tableaus—composed with photographs, props, live animals, and her own parents—as well as a new series of close-up analogue portraits of rehabilitated migratory birds, created through her practice as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. These poetic images expand the Ghostwriter series with a distinct visual language and metaphorical resonance. A site-specific wall drawing created for ICP rounds out this immersive body of work.

As the exhibition comes to a close, visit ICP to experience this powerful meditation on care, resilience, and the layered relationships between personal histories and the geopolitical forces that shape them.
