Join 2016 ICP-Bard student Ivana Larrosa at the MFA Studios for her solo thesis exhibition, I Am Not Your Mother.

I Am Not Your Mother takes the viewer on an ascendant spiral from reality to the imaginary, making you wonder what you see and relish what you don’t. Through fragmentation and perceptual looping in video performances, photographs and photo-based sculptures, I Am Not Your Mother destabilizes narrative and resists grounding in its topsy-turvy world. Exploring identity through the body and its limits, my work investigates the impact of my permanent double vision on my experience of space. I embrace this disjunction in a spirited, playful way, finding eccentricity and humor in breaking with the stereotypical female roles of the traditional Spanish Catholic family.
