About Untitled by Paula Guardián
On the island of Broad Channel, New York, all stories begin with the water. Boats are parked on the streets like cars, calendars outline the moon’s cycle to track the tides, and kids often travel to school by kayak. In this ongoing documentary project—taking place in a town just twenty blocks long and four blocks wide—I trace the global and local impact of climate change in this deeply rooted seaside community.
About A Deriva (Adrift) by Rita Correia
A Deriva explores the hybrid identity of Brazilian women who have migrated to the United States. These women leave behind their culture, with its traditions, language, and codes, facing profound transformations in a new country. The project explores displacement, belonging, and self-creation, portraying various facets of these womens' journeys through the social aspects of immigration. This work shows where women come to pursue their dreams and their encounters with loneliness while finding a sense of home.
