Many shelter workers have observed that daughters who see their mothers beaten become quiet, depressed, and withdrawn. Mary understood this and was determined to break the pattern. To protect her daughters she sent the girls to live with their grandmother .She then evaluated her situation, got away from her abuser, and arranged to bring her daughters back. She now helps children of addict.
