After months of verbal threats, Jan exploded and fractured her girlfriend's jaw. Her lover pressed charges. Jan was arrested and jailed. Domestic violence has nothing to do with sex roles or physical appearances. A batterer can be large or small, tall or short, female or male. In gay and lesbian relationships, violence occurs in one out of three relationships - just like heterosexuals.
