Nineteen-year old Virginia Ornmark wanted to be part of New York City's underworld and made friends with Fred Schmidt, the twenty-four-year-old leader of the "shirtsleeve bandits." Ornmark pleaded guilty to transporting pistols used by the gang to murder a man during a lingerie shop burglary and was sentenced to serve three years for her role in the crime.
