The Revolutionary Democratic Front was formed on April 18, 1980, and brought together opposition politicians, labor unions, and popular organizations. Right-wing gunmen kidnapped twenty FDR leaders from a press conference on November 27, 1980. The mutilated bodies of six-including that of FDR President Enrique Alvarez Córdova-were discovered in San Salvador the next day.
