Cemetery, Ndola, Zambia, 1999. The scene on a Saturday at the cemetery in Ndola in the Copperbelt region of Zambia, where more than 20 percent of the adult population has HIV or AIDS. With little treatment for the disease available at this time, many people died of HIV-related infections. On the weekends, the cemetery was jammed with numerous concurrent funerals.
