Martin Weber

Lecture

Photographers Lecture Series Winter 2010–2011

Moderated by Phillip S. Block

Martín Weber explores the power of voice, using photography to convey ideas and phenomena that are at once specific and universal. For his project, A Map of Latin American Dreams, he traveled throughout Central and South America making portraits. In each one, the subject holds a chalkboard that tells us of their hopes and aspirations.

Martín Weber is the recipient of Hasselblad Foundation Grants, a Fundacion Klemm First Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, among others. He has had solo exhibitions throughout the U.S., Europe, and South America, and is represented by Ruth Benzacar Gallery.
