Sara Hylton

Sara Hylton is an award-winning Canadian freelance photographer recognized for her compassionate and intimate approach to human rights issues. She is represented by Redux Pictures.

Hylton graduated from the International Center of Photography and Kings College London (Master of Arts, International Conflict Studies) before beginning her career focusing on issues around gender, Indigenous people, and the environment internationally. Hylton has received multiple grants and fellowships from Magnum Foundation, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, National Geographic Society, the Hillman Foundation, the International Women’s Media Foundation, and the International Reporting Project. In 2018, she was awarded a National Magazine Award for her work on missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada.

Her clients include National Geographic Magazine, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Harper's Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Smithsonian Magazine, Bloomberg News, Vogue Magazine, the Financial Times Magazine, and the Globe and Mail among others. She has been exhibited in both solo and group shows internationally.
