Rowan Renée
Rowan Renee is a multi-disciplinary artist working at the intersection of photography, installation and social practice. They were introduced to tintype photography in 2010, and within months were traveling across the U.S. taking tintype portraits of people living off-the-grid. Their work explores the healing potential of craft, especially the rituals and movements of the darkroom. They have presented solo exhibitions at island gallery (2025), The Green-Wood Cemetery (2023), KODA (2022), Smack Mellon (2021), FiveMyles (2021), Aperture Foundation (2017), and Pioneer Works (2015). Recent awards include the NYFA Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Work (2024) and a major grant from the Art for Justice Fund (2023).
