Alice Gabriner

Alice Gabriner is a visual editor and educator with more than 30 years of experience at publications including TIME, National Geographic, The New York Times, and The New Yorker. She has produced over 100 cover stories, working alongside some of the world’s most acclaimed photographers. 

She is currently heading The Center for Contemporary Documentation, a non-profit dedicated to visually documenting the environmental impacts of climate change and toxic pollution on communities across the United States. 

Previously, Gabriner served as Deputy Director of Photography at the Obama White House. Her work has been recognized with an Emmy Award in the Outstanding New Approaches: Documentary category, four National Magazine Awards, World Press Photo honors, multiple editing awards from the University of Missouri’s Pictures of the Year International (POYi) competition, and a nomination for the Lucie Award for Photo Editor of the Year. 

Since 2019, she has been a member of the faculty at the International Center of Photography (ICP). She has also collaborated widely with photographers to curate exhibitions and books around the world.
