1991 Infinity Award: Young Photographer — Walter Dhladhla

Walter Dhladhla is the recipient of the 1991 Young Photographer award

Walter Dhladhla is a South African documentary photographer and photojournalist best known for his work documenting the final years of apartheid in South Africa. Through his photographs of political demonstrations, community life, and the struggle against racial segregation, Dhladhla contributed to one of the most important visual records of South Africa's transition toward democracy. Although relatively little has been published about his personal biography compared with many internationally known photojournalists, his work forms part of the broader tradition of socially engaged documentary photography that emerged during the anti-apartheid movement.
