Jaclyn Licht (ICP Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism ''20) published a behind-the-scenes photo essay about the United Nations. It was published by The Washington Post.
Titled Unveiling Diplomacy, the series provides the viewers with a rare, mundane view inside the U.N. headquarters in New York, going beyond the corporate press events and official speeches. Licht draws upon her own experiences working inside the U.N. and combines them with her documentary style photos showing behind-the-scenes moments that people don’t usually see.
“This project … began during the omicron lockdown — a survey of empty hallways and lonely desks. … I hope to use my images to bridge the gap between the inside and outside of this building … and provide deeper understanding of all the actors who work tirelessly to build global peace and security.”
