Spandita Malik
Spandita Malik is an Indian visual artist based in New York City. Working at the intersection of photography, textiles, and social practice, her work examines gender, authority, and representation through collaborative, craft-based processes. Malik integrates photographic portraiture with traditional embroidery practices to challenge dominant power structures in documentary photography. Her work has been exhibited internationally and supported by awards including the V&A Parasol Foundation Prize, NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship, and Google’s Creator Labs Photo Fund, and has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Artsy, among others.
