Ariana Sarwari

Ariana Sarwari is an artist and educator born and raised in New York. A photographer and video artist using analog and digital mediums, she documents her brief, essential interactions with people and spaces with a sensitivity to the impermanence of these moments of connection. She seeks clarity in the suspension of the moment, the perceived slip of the façade, the light before it falls away. Central to her work are themes of rumination, light, and identity.

In addition to her artistic practice, Sarwari teaches photography at the International Center of Photography and works as a freelance photographer and videographer. She received her MFA in Photography & Related Media from Parsons School of Design - The New School in 2018 and most recently exhibited at Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts’ Blackburn 20|20 Gallery in New York, Gallery Petite in New York, the Auckland Festival of Photography in New Zealand, and the India Photo Festival in Hyderabad.
