Antoine D'Agata
Antoine d’Agata was born in Marseilles in 1961. He left France in 1983 and remained overseas for the next ten years. While in New York in 1989, with no photographic experience, he joined ICP and studied photography with Joan Liftin, Charles Harbutt, Nan Goldin and Larry Clark for a year. In 1993, he stopped photographing, moved back to France and worked as a bricklayer and a bartender until 1998. In 1998 he published his first books, De Mala Muerte and Mala Noche. The following year, he joined the Vu gallery created by Christian Caujolle. His books Hometown (2001) Vortex and Insomnia (2003) were later published. In 2004, he joined Magnum Photos Agency and created his first short films, El Cielo del muerto on Mexico-US border in 2005, and Aka Ana in Tokyo in 2006. Antoine d’Agata’s work has been shown in major exhibitions (including Le Bal, in Paris, in 2015). He has published more than fifty books and directed several films including White noise (2016, duration: 4 hours). Since 2005, Antoine D'Agata has lived and photographed around the world.
