Andrew Buckland

Andrew lives New York City where he works as an artist, recurrent educator and as Technical Lead at the Advanced Media Studio at New York University (NYU). He holds an MFA in Photography and Digital Imaging from Maryland Institute College of Art and a BFA in Craft from Oregon College of Art and Craft. Andrew is an instructor at NYU Steinhardt and co-owner of Fiber Ink Studio, a pigment print and drum-scanning studio in Brooklyn. While Andrew would not call all of his work photography he would say that it deals with problems that lie within the medium. His recent work is 3D generated using well-known software programs, lesser-known freeware programs, and he writes his own applications. The examination of natural and artificial situations has led him to create artificial environments that mimic natural landscapes with the hope of manipulating the viewer's perceptions of the so-called real.
