This class helps the collector better understand the marketplace, learn how to ask the right questions, and gain needed confidence before spending a pennytaught by Alice S. Zimet, a veteran collector who's been involved with ICP since its early days. We deal with where to buy, how to buy, and pricing tied to both the for-profit (galleries, auctions, art fairs) and nonprofit communities. Special behind-the-scene visits to galleries, auction houses, art fairs, and private collections round out the experience along with "looking assignments." This class benefits those new to the field as well as the more seasoned buyer. Students just need to bring a curiosity to learn and the desire to become a smart(er) collector.
