Library Window Exhibition: Buon Compleanno, Sophia!

September 20, 2014 marks the 80th birthday of the legendary actress and photogenic marvel, Sophia Loren. As early as 1955, LIFE magazine called Sophia Loren "Europe's number one cover girl," and she remains one of the most photographed (and printed) celebrities of the 20th century.

The International Center of Photography Library presents a selection of the photographic publications which have featured Loren, including fan, news and fashion magazines, postcards, tobacco cards, cookbooks, and photo books, as well as rare copies of the fumetti photo romances that she "performed" in during her pre-cinema career as Sofia Lazzaro, and afterwards when her films were converted into printed publications.
