Jordan Semanick (Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism ’22) published the photo essay “Chivalry Isn't Dead - and Neither Are Medieval Gladiators” in The Wall Street Journal.
The story presents photographs that juxtapose medieval imagery, including knights and gladiatorial combat, with contemporary life, creating a striking visual contrast between past and present.
“I spent my time at ICP fully immersed in the niche sport of "Armored Combat". The main focus of my project is not only to highlight the bizarre juxtaposition of medieval and modern imagery; but also, to uncover the personalities of those involved, who express their love of history through competitive sport.”
