CAMERA - Centro Italiano per la Fotografia and the International Center of Photography are collaborating to present the fourth edition of a summer masterclass in Visual Storytelling. Students will learn how to tell a refined story, develop a “media kit” stocked with both technical and artistic tools, and seamlessly edit and sequence imagery. This modular month-long masterclass will examine what it means to make visual stories that address the social, cultural, or emotional space of people and the places they inhabit.
It is a flexible program and students may apply for any one-week module, a combination of weeklong modules, or an entire month-long program. The modules include: Workflow and Sense of Place (July 1–6); Photographing People and Stories in the Social Landscape (July 8–12); Creating Stories and Mixing Media (July 15–19); and Editing It Together (July 22–26). Upon completion of all modules, students will automatically recieve acceptance to any of ICP’s three full-time One-Year Certificate programs.
ICP faculty will lead the modules. Technical objectives include: digital workflow through Lightroom and Photoshop; audio recording—both ambient and voice; video; and archival research. Premiere Pro tutorials will be issued in advance as we move quickly through basic exercises. Evening lectures will include topics such as ethics, new media, professional practices, social media, and more.
All lesson, seminars, and activities will be in English.
