ICE in Communities at Brooklyn Bridge Park

ICE in Communities presents recent work by Jeenah Moon and Yuki Iwamura. Both are alumni of the ICP’s full-time program in Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism program. Recently they have been documenting the tensions brought to community life by agents from ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Jeenah has been in Little Village, a densely populated neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side, photographing for Reuters. Yuki was in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, for the Associated Press.

Curated by David Campany.

ICP at THE POINT: The Shape of Our Stories at Baretto Point Park

ICP at THE POINT: The Shape of Our Stories is an exhibition of photographs by students from ICP's partnership with THE POINT CDC. Based in the South Bronx and launched in 1997, the program is a year-round collaboration that teaches analog and digital photography, critical thinking, writing, and public speaking with the goal of fostering self-esteem, community development, and social change. The program includes weekly after-school classes for preteens, teens, and young adults, which take place in both physical and virtual classrooms/studios/darkrooms as well as a gallery space. This exhibition celebrates local voices honoring the people, places, and things that keep us uplifted in our everyday lives.

Brooklyn Bridge Street Photography Walk

11:00 AM–1:30 PM Hone your street photography skills with a hands-on photo walk across the Brooklyn Bridge! In this image making activity, we will meet at ICP on the Lower East Side and walk downtown across the Brooklyn Bridge, ending at Photoville in Emily Warren Roebling Plaza. While learning basic photographic techniques, participants will use whatever image making device they have (smartphone, iPad, camera, etc.) to document what stands out most to them. The photo walk will last approximately 2 hours and is led by ICP Faculty Hannah La Follette Ryan.

Meet at ICP, 84 Ludlow Street to join.
