Join us for the opening of 2020 ICP-Bard MFA candidate Hana Yejiao Zhang's solo exhibition, Little Tiny Visions, at the ICP-Bard MFA Studios in Long Island City.

Little Tiny Visions presents three bodies of work. In Pet Paradise, Zhang uses sculpture, installation, and video to construct an imaginary clinic where little animal figures gather to conduct plastic surgeries. When I said goodnight, I didn’t really understand Pikachu is a video montage installation of super 8mm films combined with a piece of audio. By arranging found footage and the footage Zhang shot with a super 8mm camera, she breaks down the original context to talk about the meaning in fragments of life. There’s also a series of photographs in the hallway where the title of the exhibition comes from.

In addition to the exhibition, there would be a screening of Zhang’s feature documentary film Calling the Flowers (57min, 2020) which she shot back in her hometown Xinmin in Northeastern China. The film documents the daily life of Zhang’s aunt Yingchun and traces into seeking the hidden story of her mother and grandmother.
