Type | Special Event |
The Church of Stop Shopping invites you to witness consumption at its most extreme during a special commissioned performance addressing the themes in the ICP Museum’s current exhibition GENERATION WEALTH by Lauren Greenfield. At this radical “Undoing,” the Choir, which hails from multiple generations, ethnicities, genders, and income brackets, transforms into museum docents, de-normalizing aspirational living, steroidal wealth, and ritualized greed by introducing the plain but crippling realities of capitalism. After the in-gallery “Undoing,” Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir will perform a revival service in the front space at the ICP Museum. Expect a wild and revelatory performance of songs and sermons, inspired and illuminated by Lauren Greenfield’s timely and important project.
