Gail Albert Halaban is a New York City-based photographer whose work confronts the tensions between private spaces and public displays as well as intimacy and distance. Her acclaimed series Out My Window explores the private worlds of New York residents and their relationships with neighbors as well as the city. Peering from windows with a large-format camera, Halaban creates beautifully lit views filled with bricks, water towers, glass and steel, which upon further investigation house fellow New Yorkers preoccupied in their solitary moments.
