About Speaker

Bing Lu (鲁冰) (b. 1999) is a Chinese photographer from Beijing, China. She received her BFA in Photography from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, in 2022, and her MFA in Photography, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts, New York, in 2024. Working across portraiture, abstraction, and alternative processes, Lu’s practice examines the assumed objectivity of the photographic image and how meaning is produced, mediated, understood, and contested, considering photography both as a physical object and as part of a cumulative record of collective seeing.

Lu’s solo exhibitions include tough (2025) and what remains after the image (2026), both presented at Gallery 60 NYC, New York. Her work has also been included in group exhibitions at the Photographic Resource Center, Boston; The Curated Fridge, Somerville, Massachusetts; Syosset Library Gallery, Syosset, New York; Raynham Hall Museum, Oyster Bay, New York; and PH21 Photography Gallery, Budapest, Hungary. Her photographs have been featured in publications including Art Spiel, No. 35 Gallery, Art Poetry Journal, Visual Art Journal, Float Photo Magazine, and Roundcube, and have received recognition from the Analog Sparks International Film Photography Awards. Lu currently resides in New York City.
