Photoville 2023 will kick off at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 with Opening Weekend, a jam-packed two days of workshops, artist-led walking tours, and other activities for the whole family. Join ICP for workshops that engage the whole family in learning the fundamentals of photography while exploring the DUMBO neighborhood!
Drop-in Zine-making Family Activity
Saturday, June 3 from 1–3 PM
Come join us at the ICP tent for some zine-making! Learn how to make your own zines (mini-magazine) using recycled and repurposed images through collage and collaboration with ICP faculty and alum, Roy Baizan. No prior registration necessary.
Envisioning DUMBO Photography Workshop
Saturday, June 3 from 2–4 PM
Join ICP and faculty members Abigail Montes and Tiffany Williams for a hands-on imagemaking activity exploring the neighborhood! As we celebrate DUMBO, what are the people, places, and things that make this particular neighborhood come to life? While learning basic photographic techniques, participants will use whatever imagemaking device they have (smartphone, iPad, camera, etc.) to document what stands out most to them. They will then share their images as a group in honoring the day and can post to #ICPinDUMBO to contribute to a greater community archive! The group will meet at the ICP Photoville tent before beginning their journey. You can register for the workshop here.
Sunday, June 4 from 1–3 PM
Receive key feedback and guidance on next steps with your photographs and stories! Led by ICP faculty, Photoville attendees are invited to sign-up for one-on-one portfolio reviews of their work. Portfolio reviews will take place at Photoville (Brooklyn Bridge Park) on Sunday, June 4. To participate in the portfolio review, please RSVP here. After RSVPing you will receive an email with your 20-minute review time slot.
Along the DUMBO Waterfront Workshop
Sunday, June 4 from 2–4 PM
Taught by award-winning and internationally exhibited photographer Lynn Saville, this workshop introduces students to the magic of taking photographs along New York's waterways, with a focus on the DUMBO waterfront. The group will meet at the ICP Photoville tent before beginning their journey. You can register for the workshop here.
