Born in 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michael Crouser discovered his love of photography early in life after constructing his first darkroom in his parents' home at the age of 14. He's worked as an independent commercial photographer in his own commercial studio since 1988. It was after his graduation from school, during a trip to Spain, when Crouser was first introduced to the bullfight - an event he describes as a "cultural spectacle - bizarre and emotional." While making a living from his studio in Minneapolis, Crouser continued to travel when he could, repeatedly photographing the bull fights, refining his vision, and pursuing images that evolved in his mind's eye the more he worked with the project. These evocative photographs were made in all corners of the latin world including Spain, Mexico, France, and South America. His book project with Twin Palms Publishing will be known as Los Toros - which means the Bulls.
