Your Mirror: Portraits from the ICP Collection
Section: Self portraiture
Even in his self-portraits, Paul Mpagi Sepuya explores the complex relationships between the photographer, the subject, and the studio. By playing with fragments—body parts, photographs affixed to the studio’s wall, mirrors— he constructs his body through the medium of photography: his head and torso are images he’s made, and the camera and tripod used in their creation are his legs.
