Looking east to West 6th Street. In the background: Hotel Eleanor on West 6th Street and Surf Avenue. The Eden Musée, brought to Coney Island by sideshow impresario Samuel Gumpertz (1868–1962), featured bizarre and sensationalist wax tableaux such as a reenactment of Ruth Snyder and lover’s murder of her husband.
