David Hockney is an English artist who works in painting, photography, collage, and lithographs. After graduating from the Royal College of Art, he moved to Los Angeles. There, he rose to fame with a series of now-iconic paintings of swimming pools. In 1970, he turned to photo collages using Polaroids, which he called "joiners."
