Anthony Suau is our 2008 Photojournalism recipient and was previously the 1986 Young Photographer winner
American-born Anthony Suau, based in Europe for nearly 20 years, has dedicated his career to documenting the effects of international events on the lives of people around the world. Suau's images of the famine in Ethiopia garnered the Pulitzer Prize in 1984, and he was awarded the Robert Capa Gold Medal in 1996 for his coverage of the war in Chechnya. A contract photographer for TIME magazine since 1991 and author of several books, Suau now lives and works in New York City. In 1986, he received the ICP Infinity Award for Young Photographer.
