Alexander Liberman is the 1989 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award
Alexander Liberman is an editor and publisher. He started at Paris-based magazine Vu, which published images by Robert Capa and André Kertész, among others. Liberman moved to New York in 1941 and went to work for Condé Nast Publications. He spent the rest of his editorial career there.
Liberman was also an accomplished photographer, painter, and sculptor. His works are in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate Gallery, the Hirshhorn Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum.
