Born in Brenham, Texas, Louise O. Martin attended the Art Institute of Chicago and Denver University, where she received a degree in photography. Martin photographed African American society and visiting celebrities in Houston and worked for the city’s black-owned newspapers the Houston Informer and Forward Times. She photographed
Martin Luther King Jr.’s memorial service in Atlanta in 1968.
