[Nannie Carrington, Harrison Carrington, Miss Taylor]

Nannette Carrington (1887-1977) and Alexander Harrison Carrington (1888-1993) were the children of Alexander and Manzella Carrington of Norwich, Connecticut. They lived in a middle-class neighborhood surrounded by Irish immigrants and a few other African American families. According to records at the Connecticut Historical Society, Manzella purchased a season ticket for the steamboat that traveled between Norwich and the beaches of New London and Watch Hill, Rhode Island. It was probably during one of these summer trips that the Carringtons and Miss Taylor visited Frank J. Trowbridge's Watch Hill studio.
