Actor and Photographer Jeff Bridges to be Honored at ICP Infinity Awards

The International Center of Photography (ICP) will make a special presentation to Academy Award–winning actor and photographer Jeff Bridges at the 29th Annual Infinity Awards gala event on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers, in New York City. He is among eight Infinity Award recipients, including David Goldblatt (Cornell Capa Lifetime Achievement and Pat Schoenfeld (ICP Trustees Award).

As ICP’s largest annual fundraiser, the Infinity Awards are widely respected as the leading honor for excellence in the field of photography. The full range of ICP’s programs, including exhibitions, education, collections, and community outreach, benefit from funds raised by the Infinity Awards.

“It’s a surprise and it feels wonderful to be recognized by people who know and love photography,” said Bridges.

Truly passionate about photography, Bridges has made behind-the-scenes pictures of the actors, crew, and locations on his film sets with a Widelux F8 camera for three decades. His work has been shown in galleries in Los Angeles, New York, and London. After completion of each motion picture, he edits the images into a book and gives copies to everyone involved. The books, which have become valued by collectors, were never intended for public sale, but in the fall of 2006, powerHouse Books published Pictures: Photographs by Jeff Bridges, a compilation of images made on numerous film locations. His second monograph, Jeff Bridges: Portraits, will be published by Chronicle Books in 2014.
