Imaging Now: Collected Visions at Hyde Gallery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ­– Imaging Now: Collected Visions, an exhibition of photography curated by Dani Cattan, is currently on view in the Hyde Gallery, 477 S. Main, where it will continue through April 4. A reception will be held on Friday, March 27, 6–9 p.m.

The exhibition is comprised of works by seven photographers: Meghann Riepenhoff, Claire Gilliam, Haley Morris-Cafiero, Saul Robbins, Jean ‘Gino’ Miele, Whit Forrester, and Galina Kurlat who, together with Cattan, formed a bond at the March 2014 FotoFest. “FotoFest is an intensive portfolio event that brings curators, editors and other top players in the art world together to evaluate photographers in a series of brief meetings,” said Cattan. “It is an immersive and exhausting week, yet amongst the chaos, eight of us forged a connection and a unifying voice arose from this set of individuals. That voice speaks to the connection between what is perceived and what is reality–what is created and what is discovered–of impermanence and acceptance. These photographers all share an in-depth understanding of what we can and can’t control–how we express ourselves and how to digest what life has given us.”

Gallery hours for the Hyde Gallery are Monday–Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 7 p.m. All MCA exhibitions are free and open to the public.
