Sisters Ruth, Elfriede, and Hanna Stern were born in Neisse, Germany. Ruth (b. 1919) survived the war by escaping to England in 1939. Elfriede (b. 1916) was killed in Riga in 1942. Hanna (b. 1924) survived Auschwitz and moved to the United States after the war.
