A former bar owner, Luther S. White was never a photographer but a businessman. His New York firm captured the dynamism of early twentieth-century Broadway both onstage and off. While White Studio specialized in large-format photographs taken during dress rehearsals, the portrait division's images, like the one here of actress-singer Minnie Brown, were often quite glamorous.
