The sign on the awning over this barber shop indicates that it was run by D. R. Sheppard. According to census records, a David R. Sheppard, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and his five sons were barbers in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, for at least ten years, from 1910 to 1920. To the left of the barber shop is a small case showing the work of the photographer whose studio was upstairs and who was perhaps responsible for this image.
